My family doesn’t have too many Christmas traditions. But one of them is watching the most ridiculous, silly, and terrible quality Christmas movie ever made.

The movie is Wee Sing The Best Christmas Ever!

Even though we are all grown adults we sing along to it every year. And our mom still tells us all how ridiculous we are but I know secretly she loves it too.

While that movie isn’t going to make the list below, it’s definitely one of my favorite family traditions. Movies have an incredible capacity to bring us together as we revel in the joys and sorrows that are shared in this powerful medium.

7 Christmas movies you have to own

Here are 10 Christmas movies everyone should own.

1. It’s a Wonderful Life

There’s a reason this movie has over 3,000 reviews and an average rating of 4.8 stars on Amazon. This movie really is one of, if not the most iconic Christmas movie of all time. It’s filled with joy, pain, hope, and redemption. I love this movie.

If you don’t already own it, you should definitely consider adding it to your permanent collection.

2. A Christmas Story

This movie is 100% responsible for teaching me to never, ever, ever lick a frozen pole. After watching this as a kid I was absolutely terrified that this would happen to me. I wouldn’t even touch frozen poles.

This classic Christmas movie is one of my favorites to sit down with my family and watch (after we watch Wee Sing The Best Christmas Ever of course). It’s definitely a good one to own if you want to show your kids what Christmas was like not too long ago.

3. Home Alone

Christmas would feel a little incomplete without at least one viewing of Home Alone. This classic movie is always good for a few laughs.

4. White Christmas

It took my mom years to convince us to watch this movie as a teenager. My siblings and I always told her we didn’t want to watch her old musicals.

We didn’t realize what we were missing. It’s become one of my all time favorite Christmas movies. As soon as I finish writing this I’m probably going to watch it, I could use a little Bing Crosby in my day.

5. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

If you could only have one Christmas comedy on your shelf this just might be the one. Even though it’s the third installment of a series it really is quite fantastic and definitely worth owning.

6. The Nightmare Before Christmas

If you need a movie to bridge the gap between Halloween and Christmas this is the one. This incredible stop motion movie from Tim Burton is absolutely amazing and worth watching again and again.

7. Elf

This was the first Christmas gift I gave my wife back when we were dating. It’s her favorite Christmas movie by far and I have to admit I enjoy watching it once a year.

And there you have it, 7 Christmas movies to add to gift to yourself or pass out in your loved one’s stockings.
